Mgahinga Gorilla National Park
Mgahinga is a national park of 33.7 km² in Kisoro District, in the far southwest of Uganda. It became a national park in 1991 and covers a band of land from 2,227 m up to 4,127 m on the slopes of the Virunga volcanoes. It is a separate park from Bwindi, with its own gate, its own rules and different activities.
Most visitors combine it with Bwindi. If your main goal is the gorillas, start with gorilla trekking in Bwindi and add Mgahinga for golden monkeys or a volcano hike. The two parks need separate permits and separate days.
